V komiksech jsou The Eternals dalším výtvorem Jacka Kirbyho, který je poprvé představil v roce 1976. Jedná se o uměle vytvořený národ, u jehož zrodu stáli tzv. Celestiálové, božské bytosti světa Marvelu. Eternaly Celestiálové stvořili na Zemi, z předvěké podoby člověka. Eternalové jsou dlouhověcí, téměř nezničitelní, mají nadlidské síly, silou vůle ovládají každou buňku svého těla a dovedou manipulovat kosmickou energií. Málo se ale rozmnožují a je jich konstantně poměrně nízký počet. Eternalové přísahali, že budou chránit smrtelníky před Devianty, což je další výtvor genetických hrátek Celestiálů. Devianti se od pradávna pokoušeli lidi zotročit a svou menší moc si vždy pokoušeli nahradit s pomocí technologických výdobytků.
Režisérkou filmu je Chloe Zhao, scénář napsali Matthew a Ryan Firpovi. V hlavních rolích hrají Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Lia McHugh, Barry Keoghan a Don Lee. Datum premiéry je stanovené na 6. 11. 2020.
